The motion
That this House applauds the government of Canada, which since January 2010 has provided allowances and benefits to low-income Allied veterans living in Canada; notes that qualifying persons include all who were stationed with Allied Forces in the First and Second World Wars andthe Korean War, together with those who served inthose conflictsin the Merchant Navy;further notes all eligibleveterans receive an allowance which guarantees them monthly income levels to meet their basic needs, financial assistance in times of emergency, treatment benefits including the costs of hearing aids, prescription drugs, dental and eye care and financial assistance with funeral expenses; and calls on the British Governmentto follow this very honourable approach towards those who risked all in our name.
