OFGEM AND THE RETAIL GAS AND ELECTRICITY MARKET

That this House welcomes Ofgem's recently announced plans to press ahead with a radical overhaul of the retail energy market; notes the support from consumers, Consumer Focus, Which?, Citizens Advice, Age UK and uSwitch along with independent generators and small energy suppliers; further notes the large increases in retail energy prices over the past few years which has left many consumers facing significant additional costs; and calls on the Government to implement a sustainable energy strategy that prioritises retail fuel price affordability.
