FUTURE OF THAMESMEAD EAST

That this House notes with concern that the Local Government Boundary Commission has recommended that the boundary of the London Borough of Bexley be altered so that Thamesmead East ward is transferred into the London Borough of Greenwich; recognises that in a referendum on this issue the overwhelming majority of Thamesmead East residents opposed such a change; and calls upon the Secretary of State for the Environment to support the democratic wishes of the local people and reject the Commission's proposals.
