NUTRITIONAL FOOD LABELLING

<p>That this House recognises the need to support consumers in making healthy choices about what they eat; regrets that the European Parliament has missed the opportunity to introduce a mandatory front-of-package traffic light food-labelling system during the negotiations on the Food Information to Consumers regulations; further recognises that independent research identifies a hybrid system of labelling including traffic light colours as the most effective label for UK consumers; and calls on the Government to follow the recommendation made by the House ofLords Science and Technology Committee Report on Behaviour Changes and recommend a traffic light system of front-of-pack labelling on all food packaging.</p>
