FUTURE COSTS OF SEPTEMBER SITTINGS

Tabled by Mrs Anne Main (Conservative) 3 signatures

The motion

That this House notes the Answer of 11 October 2011, Official Report, column 319W, on sitting days, which states that to avoid an accumulation of a backlog of works, further September sittings would be likely to have a marginal cost of some 1.5 million; believes that additional burdens should not be placed on the taxpayer; considers that the current scheduling of sittings could contribute to an additional burden on the public purse; and calls on the Government to review the current pattern of sittings in September to see if better scheduling can deliver better value for the taxpayer.
