The motion
That this House believes it is essential that the UK Parliament passes all necessary legislation to ensure a great reduction in the nation's current carbon emission levels, improve energy security and create new jobs in the energy and green industries; acknowledges that in order to meet targets laid down in the Climate Change Act 2008, the Green Deal and other energy savings policies, such actions need to be linked to carbon budgets, a scenario which clearly pointsto the need for an immediate prioritisationof strategies favourable towards actions on energy efficiency savings, these being both the cheapest and quickest ways of achieving significant results; and therefore calls on the Government to exhibit greater levels of ambition towards the delivery of such outcomes than it so far hasshown in relation to the major energy companies and towards the eradication of fuel poverty in the UK.
