The motion
That this House believes that the use of wild animals in travelling circuses is fundamentally wrong because their welfare and well-being is continuously compromised by confinement in an environment that can never meet their complex needs; notes the results of the recent Departmentfor Environment, Food and Rural Affairs'public consultation on the use of wild animals in travelling circuses which produced an outcome of 94 per cent. of participants stating their wish for the introduction of a complete ban on such practices; and therefore calls on the Government immediately to bring forward legislation to end the confinement of all wild animals in the inherently unsuitableand unacceptable environments of travelling circuses throughout the UK.
