Tabled by Sir Alan Meale (Labour) 17 signatures

The motion

That this House continues to be concerned about higher rail fare increases plannedfor 2013-14 which are unnecessary and counter-productive as they will greatly discourage rail usage by commuters and encourage increased road transport into already congested networks; congratulates the Fair Fares Now campaign for its efforts to highlight the case for a value-for-money rail service whilst speaking up for those passengers who experience year-on-year hikes in fares; and calls on the Government to listen to and learn from this group, especially its views on the Departmentfor Transport's consultation on fares and ticketing which is expected early in 2012.
