The motion

That this House celebrates this week being the 90th anniversary of the first use of insulin to treat type-1 diabetes; notes that this scientific breakthrough means that people with type-1 diabetes now have the ability to lead long and and healthy lives; is concerned that, despite this, type-1 diabetes reduces life expectancy by an average of 20 years and type-2 by an average of 10 years; and calls on the Government to ensure that effective diabetes prevention and care services are a priority in the reorganisation of the NHS.
