FIRE AT SONAE FACTORY AT KIRKBY

That this House notes with grave concern the further fire at Sonae on26 January 2012; further notes that this is the 22nd occasion on which Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service have had to attend fires and other incidents at the factory over the last 12 years; expresses its concern that three people working at the factory have tragically lost their lives during the last two years; and calls on the Health and Safety Executive to bring their ongoing inquiries into past incidents to a speedy conclusion and close the factory down on the grounds that it is unsafe and badly managed.
