The motion
That this House calls for an investigation of a possible breach of the Ministerial Code by the Prime Minister; welcomes the statement of Sir Christopher Kelly, Chairman of the Committee on Standards in Public Life, that the Prime Minister almost certainly broke the Ministerial Code by failing to get his Independent Adviser on Ministerial Interests to investigate the allegations about the former Secretary of State for Defence, the right hon.Member for North Somerset andMr Adam Werritty; notes the similar opinion of the Independent Adviser Sir Philip Mawer that he should have conducted the investigation; believes that the rushed report by the former Cabinet Secretary, the right hon. Lord O'Donnell, was defective in disregarding available evidence; and furthercalls for a new legitimate investigation into the conduct of the former Secretary of State for Defence and Mr Adam Werritty.
