The motion

That this House notes that English Heritage has listed the former homes of both John Lennon and Paul McCartney; further notes that the homes of Ringo Starr (9 Madryn Street) and George Harrison, (12 Arnold Grove), remain unlisted and that Madryn Street is threatened with demolition; further notes the importance of all four Beatles and of preserving the architectural and cultural heritage of this country for future generations; further notes that in the past local authorities have demolished in haste and communities have later regretted their actions; calls on the Government to extend the listed building status to Madryn Street and Arnold Grove due to their obvious historical significance; and believes that futuregenerations will not forgive us if we fail to act.
