AZERBAIJAN

That this House considers that the Eurovision Song Contest provides a unique opportunity to promote a peaceful and just solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in accordance with international law; calls for the fulfilment of the UN Security Council resolutions 822, 853, 874 and 884, thereturn of all refugees to their homes and the establishment of a permanent peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan;further calls on Azerbaijani authorities to release all political prisoners, to respect human rights and freedom of expression and speech, and to end its persecution of the opposition; and further calls on Azerbaijani authorities to allow and enable the Council of Europe's Rapporteur on political prisoners, Christoph Strasser, to visit Azerbaijan to fulfil his mandate and to produce the much-delayed report on political prisoners.
