BACTERIA IN SUPERMARKET CHICKENS

The motion

That this House notes with concern the current Consumer Association investigation into bacteria levels in UK supermarket chickens; is concerned that the evidence suggests that 18 per cent of the sample of chickens taken in the survey were contaminated with campylobacter bacteria; and calls for urgent action by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairsto tackle this health hazard, in partnership with the Food Standards Agency, and introduce the necessary processes to eliminate this serious potential source of food poisoning.
