THORA HIRD DBE BLUE PLAQUE

That this House notes press reports that English Heritage has refused to erect a Blue Plaque commemoration to the late Thora Hird DBE; further notes that this has provoked outrage because of her significant contribution to acting over a 63-year career; believes that Thora Hird is worthy of a Blue Plaque in either London or Morecambe; further believes that the English Heritage policy of not erecting these plaques outside of London is wrong; and calls on English Heritage to erect a plaque to Thora Hird and review this discriminatory policy.
