FOOD LABELLING

That this House welcomes the Government's UK-wide consultation on labelling the nutritional content of food; notes that 80 per cent of diabetes could be prevented with a healthy lifestyle; further notes that obesity and diabetes are growing problems, with diabetes increasing by 25 per cent since 2006; and calls on the Government to ensure that food labelling is not only consistent but eye-catching and simple to understand, as for instance with the traffic light system.
