USE OF BUS LANES BY PRIVATE HIRE VEHICLES IN MANCHESTER

That this House notes that in Manchester 2,500 private hire taxis are currently prohibited from using bus lanes, while 1,500 hackney cabs are permitted to do so; believes that this unfairly discriminates against private hire vehicles in Manchester and notes that 59 local authorities allow both private hire and hackney carriages to use bus lanes; and calls on Manchester City Council to be fair and consistent in its approach to the use of bus lanes by taxis and private hire vehicles.
