REGISTER OF LOBBYISTS

Tabled by Kelvin Hopkins (Independent) 125 signatures

The motion

That this House notes the damage to public trust from repeated lobbying controversies; welcomes the Government's commitment to introduce a statutory register of lobbyists; believes that such a register must include all lobbyists, in-house and agency, commercial and non-profit above a minimum threshold; notes that, to be meaningful such a register must require lobbyists to register who is lobbying whom, what they are lobbying for, and a good faith estimate of money spent on lobbying; and calls on the Government to bring forward a robust statutory register of lobbyists within this session.
