ISRAEL'S DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

The motion

That this House notes the statement in Israel's Declaration of Independence which promised to foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants based on freedom, justice and peace, ensuring complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex and being faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations; registers with strong disapproval that commitments and promises of the founding fathers have not be kept; and calls on the Government to work with other memberstates of the European Union to put pressure on Israel to fulfil what was promised when the nation was created in 1948 and for Israel to operate in accordance with international law and honourUnited Nations resolutions.
