The motion
That this House recalls the poetic genius of John Clare, born in Helpston, Northamptonshire on 13 July 1793; remembers he was from the humblest origins and now his poetry is regarded as some of the finest in the English language; and calls for his greater national recognition by the dedication of his birthday asa national day celebrating rural heritage.
