FRIENDS OF YEMEN

That this House welcomes the course of action taken by the Friends of Yemen and Saudi Arabia, who met in Riyadh on 4 September 2012 and pledged $6.4 billion towards the stability and development of Yemen; believes the UK should take a greater part in attempts to rectify the deteriorating security and humanitarian situation in Yemen, as over 50 per cent of the population live on 1.29 a day and 44 per cent are undernourished; and ultimately believes that strong ties with a stable Yemen will improve internal security and will lead to greater stability in the Middle East.
