ASH DIEBACK

Tabled by Mr Barry Sheerman (Labour (Co-op)) 25 signatures

The motion

That this House is deeply disturbed by the rapid increase of the scourge of ash dieback in the UK, which has been confirmed on at least 10 sites; notes that this disease has the capacity to destroy up to 30 per cent of our native woodlands; and calls on the Government to avoid prolonged consultation and take immediate action to ban the import of ash saplings, the known source of the problem.
