The motion
That this House notes the extent of the financial problems hitting families all across the country; is concerned at the deepening debt crisis that is affecting people both in work and on benefit; acknowledges the work that agencies such as Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB)and others do in dealing with problems such as debt; also notes with interest a financial skills project run by CAB and a housing association in the Midlands where social housing landlords were encouraged to provide quality and easy to access money management lessons to tenants whose income was less than 200 per week, and that positive results were recorded from that pilot scheme; and calls on the Government to increase funding for such projects in an effort to deal with this worsening crisis.
