DOG ATTACKS ON POSTAL WORKERS

That this House is aware of the independent inquiry, led by former High Court judge Sir Gordon Langley, commissioned by the Royal Mail into the growing number of dog attacks on postal workers; notes that currently more than 3,000 postmen and postwomen are attacked every year in the UK, a situation which cannot be allowed to continue; and calls on the Government to lead the inquiry's findings and look at ways in which new legislation could be introduced with tougher legal sanctions against owners of dogs involved in such attacks.
