NATIONAL THEATRE'S 50TH ANNIVERSARY

That this House congratulates the National Theatre on its 50th anniversary this year; looks forward to its autumn gala night; notes that fundraising for the theatre's redevelopment is just 9 million short of its 70 million target; further notes the conclusion of its artistic director, Sir Nicholas Hytner, that the National is in rude financial health because of the commercial success of its shows; and wishes the theatre continuing success for the next 50 years.
