KING RICHARD III AND HIS RETURN TO YORKSHIRE

That this House notes the recovery of the remains of King Richard III from a car park; further notes that, contrary to historical belief, King Richard III did not have a deformity of the spine; further notes that King Richard III was the last monarch of the House of York, grew up at Middleham Castle in Yorkshire Dales and visited York several times during his short reign; further notes King Richard III funded the fourth floor of Monk Bar, the York's 14th century gateway, and there is a small museum dedicated to him within its walls; further notes that in 1484 King Richard III initiated a college of 100 priests within the Minster of York on which work had started before his death; further notes that this was to have been a chantry dedicated to Our Lady, St George and St Ninian, to pray for his and his kindreds' souls; further notes that King Richard III almost certainly intended to be buried in this mausoleum; and believes that the bones of King Richard III should be reburied in accordance with his last-known wishes and that in accordance with his wishes his remains should be interred in York Minster.
