EDF

That this House notes with interest that the energy company, EDF, ostensibly a privatised component of the British energy sector, is in fact publicly-owned, but by the French government not the British; is concerned that any profits made by EDF therefore accrue to the French state and to French taxpayers, which in effect means that British consumers and taxpayers are subsidising their French counterparts; believes this is inappropriate; and urges the Government to take steps to ensure that this does not continue.
