OFCOM FINE ON TALKTALK

Tabled by George Galloway (Workers Party of Britain) 3 signatures

The motion

That this House deplores the actions of the telecoms company TalkTalk for making an excessive number of silent and abandoned calls; notes that such calls can often have a disturbing effect on old people or others living alone; and believes that the £750,000 fine exacted by the regulator Ofcom is fair but urges Ofcom and the Government that the 9,000 or more customers who were affected in TalkTalk's cynical marketing campaign should be compensated rather than the Treasury banking the fine.
