70th ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF THE ATLANTIC

That this House commemorates the 70th anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic; salutes the bravery and courage of those Royal Navy and Merchant Navy personnel who battled for over six years; and remembers with great pride the 5,000 merchant ships and 30,000 British merchant seamen who lost their lives to provide the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with food and supplies and to maintain the democratic process and freedom that we enjoy today.
