INCREASED AWARENESS OF PROSOPAGNOSIA

Tabled by Annette Brooke (Liberal Democrat) 15 signatures

The motion

That this House welcomes attempts to raise awareness of the debilitating condition of prosopagnosia, otherwise known as face-blindness; recognises that, despite it falling within the remit of the Equality Act as an impairment that has a substantial and long-term negative effect on one's ability to carry out normal daily activities, public and professional awareness of the disorder is low; understands that an estimated 1 in 50, or 300,000 children, suffer from the developmental form of prosopagnosia; and calls on the Government to work to increase awareness of the disorder.
