POTENTIAL GURKHA HUNGER PROTEST

That this House is deeply concerned by the Gurkhas’ current commitment to undertake a hunger strike in protest against the lack of proper provision of pensions compensation and medical care; recognises the enormous contribution that the Gurkhas have made to Britain and its interests for almost two centuries; acknowledges the steps taken in 2007 towards equal pension rights and the right to live in the UK; and calls on the Government to engage in further productive dialogue on these issues with the Gurkha organisations as soon as possible.
