TOBACCO ADVERTISING TARGETTED AT YOUNG CHILDREN

The motion
That this House notes the article in The Observer on 10th November, which gave alarming and concrete evidence of the tobacco companies advertising campaign targeted specifically at young children; notes the very serious nature of this matter in view of the tobacco industry's frequent dishonest denials of such practice; further notes the tobacco industry's constant hollow assertions that a voluntary ban on tobacco advertising is more effective than a statutory ban whilst spending millions of pounds on a campaign against a statutory ban; and urges the Government to introduce a total ban without further delay.
