FINANCING OF GREYHOUND RACING

Tabled by Timothy Smith (Conservative) 32 signatures

The motion

That this House notes with concern the Government's reply to the Sixth Report from the Home Affairs Committee on the Financing of Greyhound Racing; notes that certain aspects of gambling and competition policy will remain under review but no primary legislation is envisaged; welcomes those minor recommendations relating to the deregulation of on-course betting; and calls upon the Secretary of State for the Home Department to halt any further discussion on the relaxation of licensing hours on off-course betting offices until off-course bookmakers are required to pay greyhound racing a similar percentage of turnover as they contribute to horse racing.
