RENFREWSHIRE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The motion

That this House welcomes Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce becoming the first chamber in the UK to be awarded Living Wage Accreditation and in the process paying its staff the official living wage of £7.85 an hour; notes the benefits that can be brought to businesses in paying its staff a living wage, including the positive impact that it can have on an organisation's reputation, recruiting staff, retaining employees and reducing absenteeism; recognises that further success of Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce in becoming the first Chamber in Scotland in being accredited with Investors in People Gold; further notes that this was partly as a result of the strong focus that the organisation places on staff development, ensuring a gender-balanced office and encouraging staff to take-up volunteering opportunities; and congratulates Audrey Cumberford, Bob Davidson and the rest of the team at the Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce for its recent success.
