GAS SAFETY WEEK 2015

That this House welcomes Gas Safety Week, which runs from 14 to 20 September 2015; recognises the importance that this awareness campaign plays each year in bringing attention to the fact that carbon monoxide is a silent killer that is odourless and colourless and can kill quickly with no warning; notes that at least 50 people die from carbon monoxide poisoning in the UK every year; further recognises the part the campaign plays in raising awareness that deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning are entirely preventable; further notes that the best way of preventing carbon monoxide poisoning is to ensure that all gas appliances are checked regularly by a gas safe registered installer; and urges all organisations with a stake in improving gas safety to consider ways of making more resources available for the promotion of the campaign.
