The motion
That this House calls on the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to urge the Vietnam government to relax restrictions on Christians, who are subject to beatings, harassment, intimidation and registration policies; notes that a number of Christian prisoners remain behind bars because of their religious beliefs; further notes that, under Article 18 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, burdensome registration requirements need to be eliminated; and urges the FCO to call on the Vietnam government to bring its laws on religious matters into conformity with international standards.
