BLANTYRE SOCCER ACADEMY

The motion

That this House recognises the key contribution to Blantyre made by the Blantyre Soccer Academy; further recognises the vital role that its numerous volunteers, from its coaches to administrative staff, play in their aim to use football for good; notes that since its inception in 2010, it has successfully promoted public participation of football in Blantyre, benefiting the health and social skills of the participants; commends their inclusive-to-all ethos, whereby they are welcoming to children irrespective of age, race, colour, religion, sex, sexuality or disabilities; further commends the Blantyre Soccer Academy's continual charity work, which has benefited both home and abroad, and can be evidenced in its fundraising efforts for the Good Child Foundation in Thailand and through its annual Reamonn Gormley Memorial Soccer Festival; agrees with its motto of Building a Better Blantyre, one person at a time; hopes the academy's teams are successful in the Norway Cup in Oslo in 2016; and further hopes the Blantyre Soccer Academy continues to benefit the wider community for many years to come.
