LOCAL SUPPORT FOR FAIRTRADE

The motion
That this House recognises the important role that Fairtrade towns have played in improving the lives of the poorest producers in the world; commends the work of campaigners and businesses in the UK in maintaining ethical business practices pertaining to the Fairtrade movement; notes with pride that Scotland gained Fairtrade Nation status in 2013; is steadfast in continuing to promote successes at a local level, such as Dumfries becoming a Fairtrade town in 2012; urges communities across Scotland and the rest of the UK to continue working towards helping producers get a fair deal for their goods; further urges consumers to show preference when they see the Fairtrade logo; and acknowledges the success of Fairtrade Day 2015 in Dumfries.
