COMMUNITY OF ARRAN SEABED TRUST (COAST)

That this House notes the vital work carried out by the Community of Arran Seabed Trust (COAST) in helping to protect the marine environment around Arran and the Clyde; is aware that the scientific research undertaken by COAST has contributed significantly to the establishment of 30 Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) around Scotland's coast which will protect Scotland's diverse and unique marine environment, allowing it to thrive; recognises the work carried out by COAST, specifically in terms of establishing South Arran MPA, which is the only area proposed and developed by a community group; and welcomes ongoing dialogue between the Scottish Government, COAST and other organisations, including the Scottish Inshore Fisheries Trust to ensure the preservation of Scotland's marine habitats and species, whilst contributing to a long-term sustainable fishery.
