TREATMENT OF YAZIDI AND CHRISTIAN MINORITIES

Tabled by Stephen Twigg (Labour (Co-op)) 55 signatures

The motion

That this House considers the treatment of the Yazidi and Assyrian Christian minorities in Daesh-held territory strongly indicates that genocide is occurring, bringing to mind previous atrocities committed against these communities; believes that now the Assyrians and Yazidis face their greatest existential threat ever, from Daesh; calls for the establishment by the UN of a Safe Haven and Protectorate for the ancient Yazidi and Assyrian nations, with its security guaranteed by an international treaty; supports moves to ensure that humanitarian efforts are efficient in supporting Yazidi communities; and condemns the forced enslavement, conversion, death or exile of the Yazidi community.
