The motion
That this House is concerned that the UK's already intensive agriculture is causing substantial damage to the environment, including in soil degradation, biodiversity loss and water pollution; believes the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs' drive to increase production will lead to yet more industrial inertion of agriculture which in turn will further undermine the natural resources which future generations will need to feed themselves properly; and further believes a better medium and long-term solution needs to be adopted, such as that proposed by Compassion in World Farming who have developed a new 25 year plan to meet the UK's dysfunctional price system by redirecting CAP subsidies and levying taxes on damaging food and then using this revenue to support and sustain good, healthy food production.
