CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL FOR AYR UNITED FC

That this House congratulates Ayr United FC for gaining a much deserved return to the Scottish Championship; recognises that the penalty shoot-out victory over Stranraer in the play-off final was the first time in 60 years that the Honest Men were able to clinch a title on home turf; commends manager Ian McCall for transforming a squad which was battling relegation into genuine title contenders; welcomes the renewed commitment from captain Nicky Devlin in signing a new deal with the club; notes the challenge of competing at this level on a part-time budget; and hopes that, despite this, the club can secure a foothold in the Championship in the coming season.
