BOEING AND GLOBAL AEROSPACE AND DEFENCE INDUSTRIES

That this House celebrates the centenary of Boeing, the largest aerospace and defence company in the world; recognises its important role in the development of the global aerospace and defence industries over the past 100 years; acknowledges its partnerships with and support for a wealth of UK commercial aviation customers and the UK's armed forces during this time; notes the continued growth of its operations in the UK and the more than 2,000 direct jobs that this supports; welcomes its increasing level of expenditure in the UK's aerospace and defence sectors and its long-term participation in the Farnborough International Airshow and Royal International Air Tattoo and appreciates the role this plays in sustaining tens of thousands of jobs across the UK supply chain, enhancing skills, facilitating exports and generating intellectual property in the process; and further notes its work in partnering with UK universities on research, promoting the STEM learning agenda and inspiring the next generation of engineers while raising awareness of the importance of environmental matters.
