BARRHEAD BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT

That this House welcomes the approval of a Business Improvement District (BID) by local businesses in Barrhead; notes that 64 per cent of those businesses that took part in the ballot voted to approve the initiative which will commence in September 2016; understands that the BID is a five-year project which aims to invest in a series of business-enhanced projects to improve the shopping experience in Barrhead; recognises that the success of local shops and businesses is important to communities in East Renfrewshire and across the country; encourages people to shop locally and support local businesses whenever possible; considers that the Barrhead BID will have a big role to play in the further development and regeneration of the town; and wishes all those involved with the BID process every success.
