20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MURDER OF CAROLINE GLACHAN

The motion
That this House notes that 25 August 2016 marked 20 years since the murder of 14 year old Caroline Glachan; recalls that on 25 August 1996, Caroline's body was found in the River Leven near Bonhill in an appalling crime that shocked the local community; expresses regret that 20 years later the murder remains unsolved and continues to cause pain to Caroline's family; welcomes the launch of Operation Fairing by Police Scotland in which specialist officers will re-examine the case using the latest forensic technology; commends the launch of Radio Clyde's #JusticeforCaroline campaign which has highlighted the need for a renewed focus on finding Caroline's killer; recognises that the people of Alexandria and the Vale of Leven are part of a strong and resilient community; and encourages the community to work together with police and other authorities so that Caroline's killer can finally be brought to justice and her memory put to rest.
