The motion
That this House recognises that three year old Ava Stark, of Lochgelly in Fife, has been diagnosed with inherited bone marrow failure, an extremely rare blood condition which requires her to receive regular blood and platelet transfusions; understands that Ava's condition necessitates a stem cell transplant in order to guarantee her survival; congratulates Ava and her family for encouraging more than 10,000 new people to sign up as bone marrow donors since her case was profiled nationally in Scotland; notes that a donor match has not yet been identified for Ava; and encourages as many people as possible throughout the UK to register as a bone marrow donor with Anthony Nolan in order to provide the best possible chance of securing a suitable donor for Ava, and to improve the support available to the approximately 34,000 people in the UK who are diagnosed with a blood cancer every year.
