The motion
That this House is shocked at the 3,674 drug-related deaths registered in England and Wales in 2015; notes that this figure is the highest recorded since comparable records began; further notes that the mortality rate from drug misuse was the highest rate ever recorded at 43.8 deaths per million population; recalls that the prevention of drug-related deaths is a key outcome of the Government's drug strategy; and calls on the Government to redouble efforts to address this by prioritising evidence-based, high-quality drug treatment services, as recommended by Public Health England and the Local Government Association.
