THE YOUNG KARERS EAST SUTHERLAND (TYKES)

That this House congratulates Tykes on its recent grant of £10,000 from the Awards for All Scotland funding; recognises that Tykes is a charity which was established to provide information and support to children aged under 18 years of age who have a caring role within their family; notes that the funding will be used to expand the group's existing school drop-in service which provides lunchtime support to young carers who may live in more rural areas and are unable to access drop-in sessions in the Tykes Centre; further notes that the project will enable support to be provided in an additional six schools in the surrounding community; and commends all the volunteers at Tykes who invest their time and hard work to provide fantastic support services and activities for young carers in the local community.
