FIFTEENTH ANNIVERSARY OF HOME-START GLASGOW NORTH

That this House congratulates Home-Start Glasgow North, based in the Maryhill area of Glasgow, on its 15 year anniversary; recognises that it is one of the leading family support charities in North Glasgow, established to increase the confidence and independence of families with at least one child under the age of five years; notes the vital service that Home-Start Glasgow North provides to families by visiting them in their own homes, offering support, friendship and practical assistance, and promoting parents' strength and emotional well-being; appreciates that the Home-Start family group welcomes a diverse group of families from different parts of North Glasgow and provides a varied and fun-filled programme, including baby massage, child dental health, baking, bookbug rhymes and stories; believes that the support that Home-Start provides helps to prevent family crisis and breakdown by building family confidence, strengthening relationships and having fun together; is aware that the charity also offers interactive video guidance which is designed to help parents identify what they are already doing well, and help them to build on this to improve their relationships with their children; and welcomes the hard work and commitment of all Home-Start staff and volunteers who choose to share their time, friendship, parenting skills and experience to offer friendly, professional and non-judgemental support tailored to the needs of each family.
