2016 MÒD NAN EILEAN SIAR

That this House congratulates the Royal National Mòd and organisers, An Comunn Gaidhealachd, on the success of the 2016 Mòd Nan Eilean Siar; recognises that the Mòd is the world's largest annual celebration of Gàidhlig music, culture and art with thousands of competitors attending from all over the world; notes that the Mòd plays an important role in promoting the Gàidhlig language; further recognises the role of BBC Alba in providing coverage of the Mòd and in promoting the Gàidhlig language; calls on the Government to continue to invest in BBC Alba, but also to recognise that further progress is required to protect this important minority language; and further congratulates all of the competitors who participated in the Mòd Nan Eilean Siar and anticipates success in the 2017 Lochaber Mòd.
